Play On Productions partnered with South Ribble Borough Council and Leyland in Bloom to deliver Leyland Scarecrow Festival 2025. The project delivered impactful community cohesion activity across Leyland. A programme of 10 free scarecrow making workshops were delivered in 7 strategic community spaces to ensure a representative spread of Leyland’s different regions. 154 people took part in making workshops, plus a further 10 local businesses, 19 community groups and 31 households were inspired to make and show scarecrows.
The scarecrow festival was delivered over a weekend between the 30th and 31st of August 2025. Sixty sites across Leyland showcased over 120 scarecrows that together made a festival trail. The festival was launched by the Mayor in the town centre. With scarecrow judging seeing over 3,000 votes being cast by local people.
